A Critique differs from a hardcore, intense edit in that it’s mainly general feedback on your story. This means, before the story gets sent to an editor, we read the manuscript with the sole purpose of finding and improving story elements. We will make notes on overall grammar issues, characterization, story elements, plot holes, continuity, and believability. While we do address issues with overall grammar use, we do not suggest changes; we will, on the other hand, provide information to improve deficits. In other words, a Critique will give you all the “tools” and information you need to create a wonderful read.

Copy Editing
There is some overlap here with the edits performed in the above packages. We do work to improve the formatting, style, and accuracy of text, but copy editing does not necessarily involve changing the content of the text. We will do some minimal rewriting but this is more for the sake of efficiency, not to ensure that plot line is consistent. But, we do check that the story is clear and that it flows well.

Proofreading
Proofreading is a good choice for self-editors. Your manuscript has been through the grammatical ringer, and you’re just looking for one extra set of eyes to review the finished product. We look for formatting errors, simple grammatical errors, and “big plot” issues only. Think of this as a final polish, the final hurdle before getting your story published.
