Petra was born and raised in The Netherlands. Both her parents were Dutch, but her mother had worked as a live-in nanny in both the Sates and the UK for several years. Her father was raised in Canada, and as such, Petra was raised bilingual. She urges authors, especially LGBT+ authors, to utilize this service. The Dutch are far more open and accepting than a lot of other nations, and she has come across books by openly LGBT+ authors as long as she can remember.
